The Hi-Fi (Ottawa, ON)
Supposedly opening for Red but they never showed! ($5)
Oddly enough, I don't think this has ever happened to me... We were supposed to be opening for Red (formerly Uisce Beatha, who I had shared a stage with a few times when I was in Jimmy George). We waited around for them to show up, hoping to use their drums and bass rig to avoid having to tear down and move stuff between bands. 7:00 came and went. Then 8:00. Then 9:00. Hmmm, we thought. Perhaps they're not going to show up?
Luckily Tom Werbowetski (Werbo) leaves his drums in the back room of the club so we borrowed them and Colin Majid's (also Werbo) bass amp.
Unfortunately we weren't prepared to be the headliners so we didn't really brush up on any covers, making our set a little shorter than we would have liked. The crowd was good, George's girlfriend Lesia brought out her ESL students, and ex-bandmates Rob and Dan (as well as various other people) showed up. Apparently a few people complained that we were too loud but no one told us until after we were done so we didn't do anything about it. Then again Dan said it sounded really good in a loud sort of way... it takes different strokes to fool the world.
